We both thought the story was awesome. I want to get the game now. My Father used to spend all his free time getting drunk and taking turns beating either my Mother or me. Im sure he worked, but many times I remember getting the electric shut off and sleeping in the cold. At night when it got dark out I could play with my friends outside.
If I was late getting home he locked me out of the house for the night. One time he wanted me to go fishing with him and seeing finally that I wasnt going to go, he fixed all my toys with a sledgehammer and pipe wrench.
RIP boombox : This one time he brought his girlfriend over to visit which was cool but Mom didnt like her much. The times we owned a car if we went somewhere we couldnt make a sound at all. If I was caught humming a song that was playing on the radio, he showed me how much he loved me with the back of his hand. He lied for years that he served in the Marines but spent most of his adult life in jail.
He left us not soon enough about 10 years ago, and I make it a point to visit his grave with a full bladder at least once a year. Ahhh good times filled with so many good memories. The disrespect to the developers showing their stories of love and respect is palpable and to the rare brilliant game itself that has a central theme of family and father and son, Themes of redemption and wanting his son to be better and have an easier journey in life than his own.
My 5 year old son demanded to watch and play, and while I restricted him to only some viewing and playing he understood just as well as I did the magic of the game and the father and son adventure together.
